WHAT IS THE PASSWORD?
On our classroom door hangs a magnifying glass with the question, "What is the password?". Each week, we will introduce a new password, beginning with the sound of the week. We will post the word on our magnifying glass for the children to see. Each morning, we will ask the children to read/tell us the password before they enter the classroom. At the end of the week, we will hang the password on our classroom word wall. Be sure to ask your child what the password is for this week!
NEW FREE CHOICE ACTIVITIES
Today we introduced some new Free Choice activities--many of which begin the letter sound "B". Below are some examples of these activities.
Mrs. Bergere demonstrates the new activities.
A bear puzzle to cut out and glue together correctly.
Claire and Maddie cutting out the pieces to the bear puzzle.
Children transferring balls from one bowl to another using special tongs.
Emily transferring the balls while her classmates patiently wait for a turn.
Josie and Charlie work together to match their classmates photos with their names.

SOUND OF THE WEEK
The children were very excited to learn about a new activity today--"Sound of the Week". Each week we will introduce a new letter sound on Mondays along with an animal character beginning with that letter sound. Today, we read a story about the character, learned a cheer about the letter sound, played a guessing game using picture cards with objects beginning with the letter sound, and recognized those children and teachers in the class who have a first and/or last name that begins with the letter sound, "B". Also on Mondays, we give the children something to bring home to remind them of the week's letter sound.
We also explained to the children about their "Sound Box" homework. Please assist your child in finding 1 to 3 items beginning with the sound of the week to bring in tomorrow and put into the Sound Box. IT IS VERY HELPFUL TO PUT YOUR CHILD'S ITEMS IN A ZIPLOCK BAG WITH HIS/HER NAME ON THE BAG. If your child has an item that does not fit into a ziplock bag, please put your child's name on the object. Your child should bring in up to 3 items for the Sound Box on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. They should be different items each day.

Mrs. Spolter unveils the new letter sound.
The new letter sound is "B". The character is Bubble Bear.
Mrs. Spolter reads us the story, "Bubble Bear".
At the end of the week, we get to make our own smaller copy of the story, "Bubble Bear".
Ethan is given a special sticker with a letter "B" on it since his last name begins with "B".
