NEW MATH ACTIVITY

We introduced a new math activity this week that has quickly become very popular. To begin, the child chooses a drawer of objects. (see photos below)

Next, the child chooses an addition card and places the corresponding number of objects into the correct trays. The child then dumps the trays with the objects into the larger tray (with the =sign) to determine the total amount.
The child then records the addition problem and answer on his/her recording page.

Miles working hard on addition problems.

THE LIFE CYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY

TODAY WE INTRODUCED AND DID 2 NEW ACTIVITIES TO REINFORCE OUR LEARNING OF THE LIFE CYCLE OF A BUTTERFLY....

During Free Choice time, children have been asked to put in order 8 photo cards depicting the life cycle of a butterfly.

In small groups, children used different food items (cereal and various pastas) to depict the life cycle of a butterfly. Take a look at the food pieces in the photo below and see if you can determine which food represents which stage of the butterfly life cycle. Your child can assist you!
Each child started with the template below.
