COINS FOR HAITI

In class today, we had a discussion about the earthquake in Haiti. We explained what happens during an earthquake and that they rarely happen in Ohio--particularly large, damaging ones. We then discussed ways to help the people in Haiti since they are so far away from us. The children know that we will be collecting coins at school that will eventually be sent to Haiti. (One little boy commented that he will be going on Spring Break to a place close to Haiti and perhaps he could drop off the money to the people when he goes there.) We encouraged the children to "earn" coins by doing jobs/chores around the house. The children are very excited about collecting coins to help the people in Haiti.
